설악산 용탕폭포 캠핑

Boksungatang (officially known as Yongtang Waterfall) is one of the most stunning and mysterious natural landmarks in the Naeseorak (Inner Seorak) region of Seoraksan National Park.

​The name "Boksunga" means peach in Korean, and "Tang" means pond/pool. Over thousands of years, the powerful waterfall has carved the solid rock into a basin that looks perfectly like a giant peach—or, depending on the angle, a beautiful heart shape (♥). It is a highly popular photo spot for hikers.

​To visit Boksungatang, starting from the Namgyori Ticket Office (Namgyori Information Center) is the most direct and popular route.

​Route: Namgyori Information Center ↔ Boksungatang Pond (Out-and-Back)

​Distance: Approx. 8.4 km round trip (4.2 km one way)

​Duration: Around 3.5 to 4 hours total (excluding long rests)

​Difficulty: Moderate. The first half follows a gentle, scenic valley stream, but the trail becomes steeper with lots of wooden stairs as you approach the pond. It is manageable for beginners if you take it slow.

​The Jewel of Sibiseonnyeotang Valley: This pond is the absolute highlight of the 8.4 km "Valley of Twelve Angels/Fairies." Legend has it that fairies flew down from heaven to bathe here at night.

​The Official Name, 'Yongtang': It is officially called Yongtang (Dragon Pond) because the water rushing through the massive rock hole looks like a dragon ascending to the sky.

​💡 Travel Tips for Visiting

​Best Time to Visit: Late summer (after the rainy season) offers the most dramatic, roaring waterfall and crystal-clear turquoise water. Autumn is also breathtaking due to the vibrant fall foliage surrounding the gorge.

​Gear: The trail has many rocky and uneven paths along the stream. Hiking boots or sturdy trekking shoes with good grip are highly recommended to prevent slipping.
